For the UK Government’s position on climate change, see the relevant web pages from the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) and also Climate Challenge, a Government website for spreading an understanding of the issues.

The BBC’s climate change portal and the Guardian are also full of news, views and explanation.

For a more scientific approach, see the climate change pages of the Met Office, the Royal Society or New Scientist magazine (particularly the ‘round-up of the 26 most common climate myths and misconceptions’).

Keep the warmth in the areas where it’s wanted

Keep the warmth in the areas where it’s wanted. Certain parts of buildings – e.g. foyers, storerooms corridors - don’t need to be kept as warm as others. The trick is to keep the warm air where it is needed, and prevent it escaping into areas where it isn’t. Modern heating systems can heat various parts of a building differently, and shutting doors will also help.
