The world prepares to act
During the course of 2007, the United Nations’ Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change published three reports, all of which represent the consensus view of 2,500 of the world’s top climate scientists.
The reports found that:
1) Climate change is here; it’s happening now.
2) Human activity is the main cause of climate change.
3) If we act now, we can reduce the impacts that climate change will have on our environment, health, society and economy
The three reports were approved by governments around the world, including those of the US, China and Saudi Arabia – countries which until now have been critical of international efforts to confront climate change. The debate is now over; it’s time for action.
